OpenTeams Privacy Policy

At OpenTeams we recognize that privacy is important. This Policy applies to all of the products, services and websites offered by OpenTeams, LLC (collectively, OpenTeams "services"). In addition, where more detailed information is needed to explain our privacy practices, we post separate privacy notices to describe how particular services process personal information.

This Policy applies to web sites and services that are owned and operated by OpenTeams. We do not exercise control over the sites and links that OpenTeams Members may post in the OpenTeams community. These external sites may place their own cookies or other files on your computer, collect data or solicit personal information from you.

Simply visiting the OpenTeams web site does not expose your identity publicly.

When you edit any page or contribute any content in the OpenTeams collaboration space, you are publishing a document. This is a public act, and you are identified publicly with that edit as its author.

OpenTeams will not sell or share private information, such as your email address and/or name, with third parties, unless you agree to release this information, or it is required by law to release the information.

When you sign up to be an OpenTeams member, we will ask you for personal information (such as your name, email address and an account password).  We also request credit card or other payment account information which we maintain in encrypted form on secure servers.

When you visit OpenTeams, we send one or more cookies to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. We use cookies to improve the quality of our service by storing user preferences and tracking user trends. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, but you can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, most OpenTeams features and services will not function properly if your cookies are disabled.

When you use OpenTeams services, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website. These server logs may include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser.

When you publish a page in the OpenTeam community, you must be logged in.  If you are logged in, you will be identified by your user name. This may be your real name if you so choose, or you may choose to publish under a pseudonym, whatever user name you selected when you created your account.  You will further be identified by your network IP address. This is a series of four numbers which identifies the Internet address from which you are contacting the wiki. Depending on your connection, this number may be traceable only to a large Internet service provider, or specifically to your school, place of business, or home. It may be possible that the origin of this IP address could be used in conjunction with any interests you express implicitly or explicitly by editing articles to identify you even by private individuals.

It may be either difficult or easy for a motivated individual to connect your network IP address with your real-life identity. Therefore if you are very concerned about privacy, you may wish to log in and publish under a pseudonym.

When using a pseudonym, your IP address will not be available to the public except in cases of abuse, including vandalism of a wiki page by you or by another user with the same IP address. In all cases, your IP address will be stored on the wiki servers and can be seen by OpenTeam’s server administrators and by users who have been granted access. Your IP address, and its connection to any usernames that share it may be released under certain circumstances.

OpenTeams processes personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with this Policy or any applicable service-specific privacy notice. We review our data collection, storage and processing practices to ensure that we only collect, store and process the personal information needed to provide or improve our services. We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we process is accurate, complete, and current, but we depend on our users to update or correct their personal information whenever necessary.

If you have any questions about this Policy, please feel free to contact us through our website.
