Advanced Tableau

This course is designed for students looking to deepen their understanding of creating visualizations and interpreting data in Tableau. By the end of the course, students will be able to incorporate Tableau’s auto-generated fields in their visualizations, construct calculations in a variety of ways, and gauge users’ needs when developing Tableau-based products.

This course is designed for students looking to deepen their understanding of creating visualizations and interpreting data in Tableau. By the end of the course, students will be able to incorporate Tableau’s auto-generated fields in their visualizations, construct calculations in a variety of ways, and gauge users’ needs when developing Tableau-based products.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Recognize how Tableau treats data of certain types in visualizations and calculations
  2. Use Tableau’s Relationships feature to join datasets in non-destructive ways
  3. Construct calculated fields using both constants and variable parameters
  4. Develop table and level of detail (LOD) calculations to aggregate and disaggregate displayed data
  5. Identify users’ needs when making decisions about the type, layout, and interactivity of a visualization

PREREQUISITES

Attendees need to have a strong familiarity with Tableau and using the tool to create visualizations and dashboards.
