This webinar dives into the essence of effective leadership and the challenges inherent in translating leadership theory into practice. Acknowledging that most leadership behaviors are deeply ingrained and habitual, the session will explore the complexities of habit formation in a professional context. Drawing on new insights from cognitive sciences, the webinar will dissect why forming new leadership habits is a challenging endeavor and will outline strategies for successful habit creation. Tobi will illustrate this journey through three foundational leadership habits: Being Present, Sharing Context, and Setting Boundaries. Each habit will be discussed in detail, providing you with a roadmap for connecting with colleagues, sharing knowledge and perspectives, and establishing clear principles and boundaries. The session aimed to equip leaders with practical advice and actionable strategies to foster healthy leadership habits that can significantly impact their effectiveness and the well-being of their teams.
Recognizing that changing long-standing patterns of behavior requires understanding the psychological underpinnings of habit formation.
-Being Present: Emphasizes the importance of regularly connecting with colleagues, actively listening, and being genuinely curious about their experiences and perspectives. - Sharing Context: Encourages leaders to transparently share their knowledge, including biases and assumptions, and invites team members to contribute their insights, fostering a culture of open communication. - Setting Boundaries: Highlights the necessity of defining and revising boundaries that align with guiding principles, deciding which habits to cultivate or discontinue for personal and team growth.
The webinar offers tangible strategies to assist leaders in developing and sustaining these essential habits, such as setting specific, achievable goals, creating reminders and cues, and leveraging feedback loops.
Demonstrates how adopting these habits not only enhances leadership effectiveness but also contributes to a more engaged, motivated, and cohesive team environment.
Insights from cognitive sciences provide a deeper understanding of how habits are formed and changed, offering leaders a scientific basis for approaching habit modification.
The journey to building healthy leadership habits is presented as a continuous process of self-improvement that positively affects both personal development and professional dynamics.
